Tip 1.    Build a keyword to the URL map for content.
Firstly, and probably more importantly, we would suggest doing some keyword research based on the content in your site. There is a lot of excellent blogs post with detailed advice on where and how to perform this, here are a few of our favorites – Google Keyword Planner, SEMrush.

After research, you should have a keyword list that reflects content within your site. Now, match those keywords to URLs with related content. It should look a little something like this!

The URL endageeredanimals.com targeting the keyword “endangered birds,” with the page title set to endangeredanimals.com/endangered-birds.

It’s a good idea to go through your site's pages and make sure that if you have an important keyword that hasn’t been properly targeted you do so. Consistency is vital and ensuring you have this down pat, in the beginning, will be helpful when you do your rank tracking and your on-page optimization later on.

Tip 2.    Correct set up of tracking
There are lots of programs you should set up to enhance to productivity on your site, here are our top four to get you started.

Web analytics – Google analytics is free and very, very popular. It lets you measure your advertising ROI as well as track your Flash, video, and social networking sites and applications.
Google Console - Google Search Console is a free service offered by Google that helps you monitor and maintain your site's presence in Google Search results.
Social and web profiles – When it comes to online personal or business branding, the creation of social media profiles is essential. Whether you are just trying to get more exposure online, connect with your fans or customers, or working to purify your online reputation, social networking profiles are the way to go as they will rank highly in search engine results when people search for your name.
Retargeting and Remarketing (Facebook Pixel) - Facebook pixel is a piece of code that you can place on your website to report conversions, build audiences and get rich insights about how people are using your website.

Tip 3.    Setting up Google Analytics Goals
This is often neglected on a lot of websites but is extremely important to understand whether your visitors are converting into customers or subscribers.

It is very easy to set up goals and funnels in Google Analytics that measure successful visits that resulted in a purchase or new customer. You need to define what these goals are prior to launching the website and have custom “thank you” pages with unique URL’s set up to make it easier to measure.
